Garr’s Legacy- Garr Fielding’s Ranch Antelope Island

This is one of my favorite places to be, as oasis during the balzing heat of the summer, I know I can always pick up my camera and head to the Garr fielding Ranch on Antelope Island. It’s a short trip, certainly well worth the drive.

I wanted this shot to have a feeling of belonging to that era, of times past by, but not forgotten. For this shot, I processed it HDR, ran my action of Honey Daze, and then added a layer of vintage lace and original wood from the the time when the ranch was still a working ranch. If you want to know how to add textures to your photos, this tutorial gives simple directions that will add body and a unique feel to your photos.

Serenity – For Lora

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

Happy Birthday DAVID MICHAEL KENNEDY! #photo

Yes, I really did meet and photograph David Michael Kennedy. It was kind of like meeting Oprah. not that I’ve met her but if I ever do, I’ll be prepared for that surreal type of experience. I’m out the door for now so I’ll save the story for another time!

Day 2 of #365 – Domestication in Suburbia- Project #365

This is day 2 of project 365. This is part of a portfolio I’m working on entitled, “Domestication in Suburbia”. It’s about my life in the Burbs. Yup, life with two kids, a house I’m quite dispassionate about cleaning, a fifteen year old blind mutt and an umeployed hubby who drives me crazy, despite the fact I adore him. If you’re wondering, “Is she serious?’, I will tell you that’s  not relevant. I found this sweet little Polly Pockets with a piece of star cereal to her head and I thought, “Put in her a in blue raku bowl and that would be awesome!”

The problem with being a part of project 365 (where you document each day with a photo) is that I felt everyday I had to go this amazing shots. No more, I’m going for mediocrity and I’m going to photography the absolute mundane things of everyday. Just watch, a few years down the word some one will call it “fine art” and the you and I will both have good laugh.

Image of the Day – 365 Day 1 Here We go Again – My Hero

There is a project entitled Project 365 and Photographers all over the world commit to taking one image a day for 365 days. You can follow doznes if not hundreds of photographers with the hashtag #365 or #project365 along on Twitter using the app Tweetdeck. It’s amazing, inspiring, and makes you want to push yourself as a photographer. So I started it before and and just got side tracked, so here I am ready to give Project 365 one more shot. This time I’m opening myself up to doing different kinds of work such as mixed media, etc. Here’s my Hero Athena.

HAPPY THOUGHT #1 FOR MICHAEL – Utah Child Portraiture

Remember in the movie “Hook” when the adult Peter Pan can’t fly until Tinkerbell tells him to think a happy thought and then he really does  fly. Well, this shot is for my brother Michael. I’m hoping it will be his happy thought for the day and help him fly, even if just for a little.
