Congratulations!

After a long painful journey, it’s official, Christopher will be staying with his fabulous parents, Sunny and Josh! I am constantly grateful to the big Buddha above for the opportunities that being a photographer has provided, but sometimes much more than others. I did this video for the Ketchum family a year and a half ago.  The love shown here, tells their story much better than I ever could.

The Boys from Paris – Preview of Santa Fe

I’ve promised to cataloge my adventures and my experiences from the Santa Fe Workshops this August. After a badly sprained ankle, horrific storms, terrible directions, hours of speeding like never before, I stumbled late into Santa Fe. I barely made it to the dinner and welcome and hobbled out to find a Walmart to get an extra hard drive.  While asking for directions, I came across a beautiful group of young men, and when I say beautiful, they WERE,  they just stood out. They did not know they way to Walmart, they barely spoke English,  but yes, they would love to have their photo taken in front on their mini bus they bought on ebay for $1600. They have had been touring the U.S. for the last two months, like some rock band making groupie fans everywhere they went. and of course, I was on of them. They day was an omen for what was to come in the following days.

Come back of Friday for a free texture or action. Which will be it be? Who knows, come on by to find out!

Red Hair Girl – Utah Children’s Portraiture

I love photographing children with red hair. The red hair and blue eyes on this young girl with her fair skin is almost magical. She seems a bit “Fey” or fairy touched. I photographed her along with her extended family, a group of 18 (nine of which were under 9), which I almost never do. Even though it was tricky trying to get all the shots, the family was so lovely to work with and fabulously patient. Of course my favorite shots were the kids shots, so be looking for more next week.

A Wedding to Remember – Utah Wedding Photographer

Sometimes shooting a wedding is much more than capturing your client’s most important day, sometimes as a photographer you actually get adopted by the family. No really, they invite over to choose the best produce from their garden, dinner is a standing invitation, and they invite you to go camping on their family reunion. They are such fabulous people you,  as a photographer,  feel a deep measure of gratitude for being a part of their momentous day. This was the case with Roslyn and Collin. People really just don’t come nicer and they even were game for this last shot at the train station. in downtown Salt Lake City.

I want to give a shout out to  pareeerica from Flickr Flickr. She made this  fabulous texture and by adding them to these pix really made these wedding shots pop.

I met Carissa Rogers of GoodNCrazy.com almost a year ago and she has been so supportive for a social media misfit like myself. We got together for some quick family pix. Her kids were fabulous to work with and the shots turned out lovely. It’s always so fun for me to mix up my processing, so I Love the one on the tramp. I used a sepia process, probably because at heart I really am a black and white kind of a gal. What I love about monotone and duo-tone prints is that the image really is about the content and not the color. And can you get better content than these kids?

Evo ’10 – The Evolution of Women in Social Media

Whoo-hoo, here I come Park City Utah!  Kodak is sponsoring me to attend Evo ’10 – The Evolution of Women in Social Media, which is so awesome because I have so much to learn. Thanks to my blogging for  Today’s Mama , not only are they sponsoring  my conference ticket, but they are paying for my family to attend the finale BBQ  party at Park City Resort where we will all have full access passes to the mountain. I also will be getting a  Kodak Zi8 video cam  which hands down beats the Flip video cam in consumer reviews. If you’re going, come find me and we can do some shooting toegther.

I myself have the new Vado and use the Canon SD 1200 that I’ve used for video so I’m excited to see what this new little Kodak can do. After a week on the river with seven men, am amazing experience, I am looking for a serious estrogen boost. Stay tuned for more.

Beautiful Bridals

After shooting Rosalind, her photos always takes my breath away. She has such a classical timeless beauty and she works so well with the camera. The big day is just a few weeks away!

Riley – Utah Child Portraiture

We only had just a few minutes for this session. The clouds were gracious enough to hold back the rain until I could get some beautiful shots of Riley. She just turned eight and her parents wanted some special photos before she was baptized. Riley was so easy and delightful to work with and because I love her so much, it made the pictures all the more meaningful.

An Enagement to Remember – Utah Modern Portraiture

Roz and Collin picked the perfect place for their engagement session, S & S Short Line Train Park in Farmington, Utah. We climbed inside an abandoned railroad car for the shot above. The afternoon light coming through the  open car door was just perfect, just like Roz and Colin. I have a modern style of portraiture so the time we spent together was carefree and fun.

They met as many couples do nowadays, on the internet. Collin had two qualities he was looking for: someone who loved soccer or video games. Well Roz is a lifetime lover of soccer, so the fact that she has no interest in video games wasn’t something that dissuaded Collin. They quickly fell in love and as we laughed and took pictures in the Park, I could feel that their genuine love and affection spread all over me, mushy-moo-moo:)

They both photographed like models. I swear Colin, who I took to calling Matt, could not take a bad picture if he tried.
