“Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens”
…where in the song is there room for “rough worn leather boots”? My family will tell you, I’m just not much of a collector or buyer of much of anything, But if my house was burning to the the ground, I’d be grabbing these boots, two paintings, and my hard drives. My kids and pets are really quite capable and much more agile than myself.
These boots…they’ve seen it all.
I’m a barefoot, flip-flop, boot kind of a gal, absolutely nothing in between. For the last twelve years these boots have hiked through snow, manure, sand, and just about everything else. I’ve worn them with jeans, skirts, dresses, capris, and even shorts (ok, so that was maybe pushing it). I can’t tell you how many times this year I’ve actually fallen asleep wearing them. They do look better with a shine, but after time, as with most things, their character wears through.
The leather is cracking, the soles have been replaced a few times. I don’t how many years they got left…I’m hoping just long enough till I get to my grave I guess.
